Last week, the news of the day involved former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez . After a week of warrants to search his house and his cars, the tight end was put in handcuffs and rushed to court to face 1st degree murder charges in the death of Odin Lloyd .
Hernandez and his two accomplices allegedly murdered Lloyd and left his body miles away from Hernandez’s house at a construction site. Hernandez and his co-conspirators are currently sitting behind bars awaiting trial. The news got worse for Hernandez as the week went on. Not only did his loose an endorsement, but his records and stats were erased for NFL.com. The Patriots franchise went a step further and offered a jersey swap out for anyone who owned a Hernandez jersey and wanted to get rid of it.
More details about the murder have trickled out over this weekend. Hernandez won’t see another court date until later this month.
This the Chi right!? One of the brightest rising stars in the city of Chicago, King Louie could fing himself in hot water over a video went viral this weekend. A YouTube clip showing a fight between two girls was posted yesterday. The fight was allegedly over some sunglasses that Lou believed the girl stole from him. Text message show that Lou lured her to his house for her to catch a beat down. To add insult to injury, you can hear the girl begging Lou to intervene. Not only does he refuse, he shows his face and smile on the camera, before cutting the video off.
Not a good look for someone with such a bright future.
Last week we also saw an end of the battle of albums between Kanye West, J.Cole and Mac Miller. Kanye and his 6th studio album, “Yeezus” won the race, but it might lose overall. “Yeezus” debuted with 350k sold, but it’s his lowest debut album. To make matters worse, the album only posted 75k sold for this week. Compare that to J.Cole who’s “Born Sinner” album did 250k last week and finished second to Ye.
This week, his album is actually picking up steam! “Born Sinner” grabbed another 95k units sold, placing him #2 on the charts for a second straight week. Wale and his “The Gifted” album grabbed the number 1 spot with 150k sold. Kanye and Yeezus grabbed the 3rd place.
We end the week in review with something that literally happened last night before the BET awards kicked off. Blogger and media personality B. Scott was asked by BET to cover the red carpet festivities. Scott who is androgynous and everybody knows it was asked before to grabbed the mic to change his outfit and take off his heels.
Scott obliged them reluctantly. Later he would post on twitter, responding to fans who said that he looked like a very toned down version of himself. No statement has been made by BET as of yet about the situation.
And of course there was more news from last week.
