Sean “Diddy” Combs is taking another step toward becoming hip-hop’s first billionaire.
According to Bloomberg, Combs has bid about $200 million for the Fuse cable-TV channel, said three people with knowledge of the situation.
Combs, 43, rose to fame as rapper Puff Daddy and has since founded fashion, liquor and media businesses, including the cable-music channel Revolt TV. He would convert Fuse, owned by New York-based Madison Square Garden Co. (MSG), into Revolt TV, which has backing from Comcast Corp. (CMCSA), said the people, who requested anonymity because the talks are private. Combs is one of several Fuse bidders, one of the people said.
With the purchase, Revolt TV would gain wider distribution and higher subscriber fees, one person said. Fuse is available in about 74 million homes through pay-TV systems includingDirecTV (DTV), Dish Network Corp. (DISH) and Cablevision Systems Corp. (CVC), compared with Revolt TV, which reaches about 22.8 million homes and is carried by Comcast and Time Warner Cable Inc. (TWC), according to researcher SNL Kagan.
“As we have stated, we are exploring strategic alternatives for Fuse, and will have no further comment during what is still an ongoing process,” Kimberly Kerns, a spokeswoman for MSG, said today in an e-mail.
Keesha Johnson, a press contact for Combs, declined to comment.
Lana Del Rey has announced a full-blown North American tour, with the first of the new dates being in Grand Prairie, Texas, on April 23.
Del Rey broke the new on her Facebook page, adding that tickets to the freshly announced dates would go on sale at the end of this week (March 14 and15, depending on show date). Among the U.S. shows includes a stop at Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater on May 19.
The tour could be in support of the singer’s upcoming new album, Ultraviolence, which she intimated to an autograph-seeking fan would be available on May 1. Del Rey has also let it be known that among the collaborators on the new full-length include Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys with a tweet.
“It is absolutely gorgeous – darker then the first – so dark it’s almost unlistenable and wrong,” the “Video Games” chanteuse explained regarding the allegedly finished Ultraviolence during a recent Twitter Q&A. “But I love it.”

The Carolina Panthers might be calling it the end for the Steve Smith era.
ESPN reported earlier today that the Panthers were exploring options to trade their All-pro wide receiver.
The 13-year veteran, who has played every one of his NFL snaps in Carolina since being drafted by the team coming out of the University of Utah. Currently Smith sits as the franchise’s all-time leading receiver.
Ffinding a trade partner may prove to be difficult. According to Spotrac.com, the veteran has a base salary of $11 million and a cap hit of $17 million over the next two seasons combined, along with a player option in 2016 worth $9 million.
Moving Smith would be a huge blow to the team and the city itself. Smith has been a staple in the Charlotte community and has become quarterback Cam Newton lone option at wide-out.
It was announced today that Kanye West and the G.O.O.D music family will be in Austin Texas this week for SXSW.
The G.O.O.D. music showcase will go down at Brazos March 12th and will feature Big Sean, Pusha T, Cyhi The Prynce, Been Trill, Teyana Taylor and Chicago emcees Hollywood Holt and King Louie. The showcase will be presented by Yahoo!
To call this a “throwaway” track would speak more to the greatness of the overall work it was left off of and less about the quality of the song.
On the heels of announcing his G.O.O.D music showcase, Ye also released a new/old track. “Computerized” was supposed to be featured on Daft Punk’s Grammy award winning album Random Access Memories, but got left on the cutting room floor at the last minute.

Singer-songwriter Neil Young has announced plans to launch a high-definition portable music player and download service, saying it will improve the experience of listening to digital music on the go.
The Canadian-born musician, a longtime critic of the quality of digital music, said he would be launching an online store for music downloads as well as a portable player through his new company, PonoMusic.
“It’s about the music, real music,” Young said in a statement.
“We want to move digital music into the 21st century and PonoMusic does that. We couldn’t be more excited – not for ourselves, but for those that are moved by what music means in their lives.”
The PonoPlayer will be sold online for $399 on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter later this week, the statement said.
Young was scheduled to talk about the new service this week at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.

Since arriving in Houston, Dwight Howard has made fans of everyone in the Rockets organization. Everyone but one person. Suspected bank robber Jules Bahler a.k.a. “King Romeo” if you’re friends with him on Facebook helped the police’s investigation by sharing several photos of himself posing with a submachine gun.
Bahler, 21 is accused of robbing three Michigan banks over the course of a week. He allegedly hit a Genisys Credit Union for $4,300 on FEb. 26 and a Bank of America for $4,000 on March. 4. He is also accused of robbing a Chemical Bank of $7,000 on March 5.
A detective working the case came across Bahler’s Facebook page and noticed photos of the man holding a weapon similar to the one used in two of the robberies, according to FBI agent Sean Gallaghan. The photos also showed him wearing clothing similar to that worn by the suspect caught on the security cameras.
Officers staked out Bahler’s home in Pontiac and pulled him over on Friday after he left his house. While searching his vehicle investigators discovered a black submachine gun in a duffle bag.
Bahler was taken into custody, where he confessed to all three robberies, according to The Smoking Gun.
Lakers fans might be getting some more bad news soon. Star guard Kobe Bryant, who has been on the injured reserved list since he re-injured his newly repaired new early in the season.
Bryant has been promising to make a comeback before the end of the season, but with the Lakers losing on a consistent basis, it makes sense that Laker exes might tell Kobe to sit it down for the rest of the year.
According to Bleacher Report The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to declare Bryant out for the rest of the 2013-14 season later this week, according to team sources.
Bryant is not accompanying the team on its trip to Oklahoma City and San Antonio, staying back to be reexamined by team doctor Steve Lombardo. And considering where Bryant’s level of discomfort remains with the fractured lateral tibial plateau in his left knee, barring an unforeseen change, the team will finalize the decision that Bryant will not play again this season.
