Rolling Stone is reporting that Glam rocker Gary Glitter is facing some serious charges right now.
The magazine is reporting that Glitter will be charged with eight sexual offenses involving girls aged 12 to 14, Sky News reports. Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was arrested back in October 2012 over allegations dating back to the late 1970s, but was released on police bail, which extended to March of this year.
Glitter now faces four counts of indecent assault, one count of “administering a drug or other thing in order to facilitate sexual intercourse,” and one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 between January 31st and May 31st, 1977. He’s also been charged with two counts of indecent assault of another girl aged 13 or 14 between October 1st, 1979 and December 31st, 1980. Glitter is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on June 19th.
According to Baljit Ubhey, chief crown prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service London, five allegations made by two other complainants will not be pursued due to “insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction.”
This is not the first time that Glitter has been arrested on charges relating to sexual assault or abuse: In 1999, he was convicted for possessing child pornography and was jailed in Vietnam in 2006 for sexually abusing two young girls.
