Adam Silver has had some big plans for the NBA since he took over the reigns of commissioner. He’s made a push to make players wear long-sleeved jerseys and has addressed everything from paying college players to putting virtual ads on jerseys.
His next bright idea might change the play-of system for good.
According to Mike Monroe of the San Antonio Express-News, NBA commissioner Adam Silver told Spurs broadcasters that the league “might move” to a top-16 format where the sixteen teams with the best records overall make the playoffs instead of the eight best teams from each conference.

That move would be a huge change for the league. If the change was in place right now, many teams in the Eastern Conference would not be eligible for the play-offs.
