MTV Unplugged: Nirvana

Kurt Cobain fans will get to see their favorite artist in a new light soon.

Kurt Cobain’s life will be captured in the pages of a new comic book that sees release in print and digital forms on April 2nd, a few days before the 20th anniversary of the Nirvana frontman’s death, Billboard reports.

Written and drawn by Jayfri Hashim, the comic is part of Blue Water Productions’ “Tribute” series, which has already chronicled the lives of Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Jim Morrison and Keith Richards (future comics in the series are planned for Freddie Mercury and the members of Monty Python). The Cobain installment will cover the musician’s early career and quick rise to superstardom, which caused him so much mental and emotional strife.

“Not only is this a great way to understand the importance of his contribution to music, but it is a great tool for kids to read about him in a different medium,” said Blue Water publisher Darren G. Davis of Cobain’s Tribute installment. “Our biography comic books are now taught in schools and libraries for students and reluctant readers.”

You can pre-order a physical copy of “Tribute: Kurt Cobain” for $3.99 over at Comic Flea Market (where you’ll also be able to take a sneak peak at a few pages), while digital copies will be available via iTunes, Kindle, Google Play, Nook, Wowio, ComiXology and other digital eBook retailers.
