Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has been indicted for assaulting his girlfriend. The incident happened back in February. Rice was filmed dragging his girlfriend out of an elevator inside of a New Jersey casino. Surveillance cameras captured Rice assaulting his girlfriend prior to pulling her out of the elevator. Rice contends that he was provoked to hit her after she spit on him.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office announced the Baltimore Ravens star will face one count of third degree aggravated assault for the February 15 incident involving Janay Palmer.
That’s a felony that could land Rice in prison for 3 to 5 years.
At the time of the incident cops charged both Rice and Palmer with simple assault. Prosecutors have now dismissed the charge against her. His team, the Ravens have voiced their support for Rice.
